I m producing a video in Blender so thats my live report, this tutorial will be corrected and make it bigger in the future.

WORKSPACE

To start lets enter in the windows setup for video editing: drop down menu and choose the number 4th : SEQUENCE

Strange that Blender dont use the standard names, like footage or clip, using strip instead.

blender video add fxEFFECTS

Select the strips you want to apply the effect to and press spacebar to see appear the menu, then click on

[ADD] -> effect -> Add

That will create a strip that is your effect, with the length of the strips intersection, right above the selected video strips,

move the mouse around to decide on witch level is positioned.

The effects strip can be resized like any other video strip.

Frequently unfortunally is not possible to add an fx contemporary on 3 strips or more, only 2 strips are aloud.

But there are many effects possibilities and each effect has different setup.

TRANSITIONS

“FADE IN / FADE OUT”
To fade is not so intuitive, but give you the possibility to fade not only to black or white as normal video editor, you choose the background color, so at first
You can use it for fade in and fade out between to clips, ehm Strips in Blender terms, Fade from a strip the first selected to the other, the last selected

Gamma Cross

Add Sequence Strip

select the clips and press (spacebar) -> Gamma Cross

Now you ll need to add a efx strip called
[ Color Generator ]
and then Setup the sequence strip

Color Generator fills the frame with whatever color you select (via a color picker in the buttons window). You can make it black, put it in a channel over your video strip, then select both strips and add a Cross on top of them to dissolve between your strip and the Color Generator. SHORTCUTs
Remember that the standards shortcut are the first Letter of the action you need.
Frequently in Blender the commands are compressed into 1 shortcut, and not into two different actions.

a -.-.-. it means ALL
select / deselect all clips
In this case what happen clicking A it depends if the strip is already selected or not.

G .-.-..- grab move
move the selected files
for example to move all the strips together: (a) then (g)

C.-.-.-. copy
copy that automatically paste

K is CUT HARD
pratically KUT! coming back on the idea that normally the first letter of a command is a shortcut, is not always like that, but in this case nothing is better then K shortcut, when C is copy combined with CTRL,

mouse usage:
the mouse is sensible to dynamic that means that you click and move the mouse to activate some actions
right click hold press + mouse move it means G (grab / move)

TEXT editing
Drop down menu to enter in model windows setup

ADD (Spacebar) -> text
and then edit Mode to change the text

Rendering FRAMES
press [Render] then press F3 save jpg as

RENDERING VIDEO

“…

In order to render the videos, you have to select the [Do sequence] option right below the [ANIM] in the Scene (F10) menu. The output file(s)

will create in the directory set in the first box of the output group.

By default, blender will render each frame into a separate jpg file, but the output could also be an avi file. To do this, you chose AVI codec in the drop-down list of the format group. In this case, the name of the output avi file will be taken from the text entered in the output box.

For instance, if it says C:\Users\Render\test the output file will be named test0001-0250.avi and created in C:\Users\Render. 0001-0250 reflects the frame range, which of course can be also modified by just entering the desired values for the start and end frames of the animation.

Sensor forest on a breadboard

Hardware Hacking -DiY — Introduction to Hardware <-> Software Interaction

This introduction is intended for anyone interested in (easy) electronics hardware and (mostly easy) software coding. Artists / *Designers & Hackers of all kinds are invited to join the FREE sessions in Berlin Friedrichshain.

TKilla will introduce the Arduino micro-controller platform and show some practical examples. Basics of electronics and some interesting components will be explained shortly, but there are no tricky mechanical works and no soldering involved.

We will focus on software programming inside the Arduino editor to show how to read analog values from various interesting sensors and output to LEDs and maybe servo motors.

Big breadboard, many sensors + Arduino

To get some interesting visual results, we will use Processing to display incoming values from sensors in graphical ways.

After the lesson, you should have an idea how to design & build your own simple robots (servo motors…) or sensory controllers (MIDI / OSC faderboxes,..).

If there is time, everyone can install the software and try with a board and sensors. We can focus on special topics and the workshop part (maybe MIDI Controllers) in a follow-up evening.

Synoptx Crew organizes all material, tools and a nice location.

Max. 5 Arduino boards will be available, so bring your own, if you have one or contact us by mail or comment..

BYO laptop!

and interesting electronics (sensors) to recycle! (old joysticks, buttons, potis, faders, sensors,…)

27.09. – 19:00

nerdcafe.10247.net

This lecture is an introduction to git, mainly from client-site,
but some tricks for servers to control access are also introduced (gitosis).
Furthermore, with git-svn you are able to reach a svn-repo via a git repo.

Scroogle Cookie Killer

I use this google (TM) frontend since long time.

By using this site (as a ~proxy), google (TM) does not receive your cookie and cannot track your behavoir, as they normally do over long time periods. Scroogle stores the logs 48hours, but without IP. I just don’t find the info page..help!

Use this this link for your homepage and you will find a comic strip with info about Google (TM) every time you scroogle!

I just wanted to start to code, but typed amarok into the market and: somebody did it already

Android Amarok Remote Homepage

just follow the install instructions – its done in 5 minutes, enjoy!

BugFIX:

rename the downloaded file to android.amarokscript.tar.gz or you cannot open it in amarok plugin manager!

We watched a lecture from CCC congress 24C3 at Samacafe yesterday to get ideas how to organize hackerspaces and linux user groups. It was presented on the congress in 2007 by Lars Weiler and Jens Ohlig.

“Design Patterns” are presented in the lecture: many typical hackerspace-orga problems are identified and a possible solution is presented.  Some design patterns also match for living together in communities, others are optimized for nerds and their special lifestyle.

Video of the lecture:                     Building a Hackerspace MP4

Here is the PDF of the slides:     Building a Hackerspace PDF

btw: there are 100s other interesting videos of the CCC lectures!  fem.tu-illmenau.de

Notes by ZBog:

What could be better than the solution presented in the lecture::

Be culturally neutral
-> I can say clean and white walls, then we are anyway fine with a specified target

Plenum is suggested a weekly appointment not irregular and not more then 1 daily meeting
-> Ill suggest the weekly plenum must be maximum 3 hours long

4 years is a good time to consider if the hacker space is running or not
-> in our case will be an office, then 2 years are necessary to calculate the income, first year there are to many expenses to count really

Decision with Direct Democracy
-> again we are speaking about an Office, so I think that Decision making should be divided in 3 levels , on the beginning I planned 2 levels Plenum and team, but we all know there is no democracy in 2, you ll need the 3rd vote to break the war, any group counts as 1 vote

  • Plenum democracy
  • Working team, who is directly involved
  • Director / main developer / Art director and so on

How to resolve problems

  • do not attack people before the deadline, they are already stressed, just wait for  the release party or organize a meeting after release to discuss how the work went and what needs to be improved next time
  • if you are sharing a project, wait until the project is finished or you break the team mood
  • In plenum you should generally not speak about somebody, but about “what will happen if”, do not use names or the war will start
